I often bang on about energy in music production as its the ebbs and flows in energy that keeps us on our toes and gets our juices going.

This is a tip more for electronic music production or beat making but by changing the kick sound, rather than using the same , you can create a kick groove that “vibes” a bit more. The same is true with other drums and percussion.

Now it doesn’t work for all genres of music and the selection of kick drum will define whether or not it works so trust your ears.

An additional tip on a similar subject is layering g kick drums and having different samples taking care of different parts of the sonic spectrum. Again this gives you more energy … And bigger kicks.
